Millennial Music Hits Mason City

After an intense audition process, multiple practices, and well-thought-out planning from the crew, everyone who is a part of the 70th annual Mohawk Follies is ready to perform for the public. Some noticeable acts to mention are the various show choirs making appearances throughout the show, providing catchy mashups of songs from the 90’s to the present, to fit this year’s theme of millennial music.

Also appearing on stage are Nathan Elsbernd and Amelia Ouverson, singing a flowing duet from La La Land, Kallie Whitehill singing a solo by Coldplay, Brandon Wiman singing a ballad called Angels, and many other singing acts.

However, Follies is not only known and attended for the singing and musical numbers, but the skits and other theatrical performances. A favorite recurring skit is the Synchronized Swimming performed by the Mohawk Men’s Swimming Team. Another humorous skit is The Bachelor, which is performed by freshman across the board, including Anna Lehman, Alyssa Alert, Gabi Berding, Karla Lara, and Sawyer Berg. Follies has been a long-standing tradition in Mason City. Everyone involved in the performances does their best to contribute to that tradition and reputation that the Mason City High School has come to acquire..

Follies is a fun experience where students have a chance to show off their talents and make other people smile and laugh. You can see the 70th annual Mohawk Follies: Millennial Music on the following dates: February 8 at 7:30 pm, February 10 at 8:30pm, and February 11 at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased at both Hy-Vee West and East, as well as the High School main office for $9, with children 12 and under and senior citizens receiving a discounted price of $7. Come support MCHS Follies this weekend!
