The Waves of Goodbyes: Mohawk Swimmers Celebrate Senior Night

Within John Adams Middle School, the last home meet of the season for the boys swim team has filled the pool with echoes of yelling and cheering. It was not only the last home meet, but it was also senior night to celebrate the graduating seniors.

Steve Hugo, the head swim team coach of the boys, had a message for the student body.  Mr. Hugo wanted to inform the students that the swim team welcomes anyone no matter what, as long as they are willing to put in the work. Within the sport, you get as much as you put in. He had also mentioned that the swim team is a overall knit tight group.

Some of the challenges that the team went through over the year dealt with the bad weather and even a malfunction in the practice pool.

According to Mr. Hugo, the meet on senior night was a tremendous success. Several swimmers achieved personal records. He had also talked about the  tremendous amount of contribution and leadership that the seniors had shared and provided the swim team over the years. Even though that the season is coming to a close with state around the corner, Hugo had said there is still work to be done. However,  the MCHS family is proud to have such an awesome group of swimmers represent the Mohawks. As the last splashes in the John Adams Middle School pool settle, the seniors of 2017 definitely have a night to remember and reflect on as they continue on spreading their positivity and leadership into the next chapter in their lives, while the rest will have big shoes to fill next season.
