State Wrestling Success

The Mohawk Wrestling season this year has consisted of nothing but success. Behind the success of the season, the boys have put in hard work to get to where they are and want to be. According to coach Dusty Rhodes, specific wrestlers who have put together very good seasons are: Cullan Schriever, Colby Schriever, Luke Deinhart, Troy Monahan, Evan Craw, Jeff Shurtz, Christian Rodriguez and Connor Wiemann.

The Mohawks were able to send four wrestlers to the 2018 state meet in Des Moines. Defending State Champion Cullan Schriever qualified, and won, the 106 pound weight group in the state meet. His brother Colby Schriever received 7th place in the 126 pound weight group. Lucas Deinhart qualified in the 152 pound weight group, and Troy “Moose” Monahan qualified in the HWT. This meet was held in Des Moines in the Wells Fargo Area on February 15th, 16th, and 17th.

When asked about thoughts on the season and state meet, Coach Rhodes expressed, “I’m very excited for the guys wrestling in that state tournament. They have worked hard to get there, and none of them are satisfied. They are going there to bring back medals.” We are proud of our wrestlers this season, and already excited for the accomplishments of next season.
