Mohawk Volleyball Off to Great Start

By Katelyn Hagenow and Nathalie Angel, Freshmen

The 2018 Mohawk Volleyball team is off to a great start. This 2018 Volleyball season will not be one to miss. Already starting off with five wins, the varsity team will be leading the Mohawks into an exciting season.  Last season, the overall season record was 15-12, which the Mohawks hope to improve on this year. The Mohawk varsity team is coached by Curt Klaahsen. The junior varsity team is coach by Camie Thornblade. Andrea McGuire coaches the sophomore team, and Molly Marlin and Kimberly Conner coach the freshmen team.

Katelyn Roberts, a senior on the Varsity team states, “My goal is to give it all I got because it’s my senior year and it’s my last year playing volleyball. I don’t want to end the season with any regrets. I want the team to be the best we can be and fight as hard as we can every single game.”

Grace Tobin, a Junior on the Varsity team, adds, “Being part of a team is super important to me. It has taught me to be a leader that others can look up to, be accepting to constructive criticism, and work together with one another. It makes all those things really easy when I have a great team!” It can be confidently claimed that the determination the players have in them will push them all to be better throughout the season.

Marisa Barragan, a Freshmen, claims, “When apart of a team it is important to be compatible and having a good attitude, I love being able to play with the people I do and I am very thankful to be apart of the amazing volleyball program we have here at MCHS!” She is looking forward for the future here with the MCHS Volleyball squad.

You can catch the volleyball team in action on Tuesday, September 25th against Waukee. Good luck to the team with the rest of their season!
