Girls Tennis Looking Forward to Spring Weather

The spring sports season provides many options for the students of MCHS. One fantastic option is Girls Tennis. This team is coached by Jim Cornick, and starts the Monday after spring break.

The Girls Tennis team had a huge turn out of girls this year. The team is so big that practices were split into two groups to ensure everyone receives equal practice time. The team is then split into Varsity and JV. Varsity consists of the top ten girls. The top six varsity girls play singles along with doubles. These girls are Bailey Vandusseldorp, Grace Henrich, Lauren Andrews, Peyton Carpenter, Teigen Barkema, and Emma Yarahmadi. The following four girls play Varsity doubles: Hannah Hill, Eden Lewerke, Sydney Sullivan, and Marissa Pope. The rest of the Girls Tennis team plays on JV.

The tennis team is made up of not only MCHS students, but Newman, North Iowa Christian School, and homeschooled students as well. This allows the other schools to be able to participate and adds to the numbers on each team. Each girl has a goal for themselves this season, and hopefully, everyone has a chance to meet this. Although three meets have already been rescheduled due to weather, the team used this extra practice time to improve skills and hopefully have a successful season as always.
