The girls’ golf team had a successful year with many individual successes in the top ranks with multiple team wins. The girls won the conference meet on Monday, May 15th, and are hoping to do just as well during regionals and hopefully the state meet.
Sydney Eaton is the top player and will be continuing her golf career at University of Northern Iowa. She played well throughout the season and is excited to continue on. Ashley Alert is also continuing on as a woman’s golf player here in Mason City at North Iowa Area Community College. There were four other seniors on the team: Kenzie Dettman, Laura Keenan, Rylee Hickman, and Danielle Dahle. The top three players in order were Sydney Eaton, Thea Lunning, and Ashley Alert.
Coach Matt Evans would like to encourage girls to join girls golf as their numbers are beginning to dwindle, the atmosphere with the team is inviting, and you will have a blast learning how to play the game. Even if you had never picked up a club, Coach Evans will teach you the correct way to play the game, while having fun at the same time. Good luck to all the golfers competing at regionals, and congratulations on an already successful season.
