Girls Golf Looks to End Season on a High Note

With many spring sport options at MCHS, there are quite a few that can be overlooked by students. Girls Golf is not as prominent as soccer or track and field, but is still just as interesting. There are fourteen girls on the team this year, led by seniors Lauren Dettmer and Sydney Vogelgesang.

Matt Evans is the Girls Golf coach, and he has been in that position for ten years. According to Coach Evans, he has a good group of girls this year, and the team feels like they are on top of their game this season. With the weather, they have not been able to have as many practices outdoors as they would in other seasons. That has proven a challenge to the team, but nothing that they could not overcome. On top of their practices being compromised, there were a few meets that had to be cancelled for weather. Evans feels that for all of the things that went wrong, the girls have made tremendous growth.

Girls Golf regionals will be on Monday. Any golfers who advance to state will compete on May 29th and 30th. Good luck to the girls in regionals and in future meets.
