Boys Basketball 2017

The Mason City High School boys basketball team set goals for their season’s success. Although it is still early in the season, those goals have gotten them fairly far. With all of the practices and training they go through, focusing on their goals is not as hard as it may first appear. Coach Nick Trask, who has been coaching at Mason City for four years, says that at this point, their collective goal as a team is to stay competitive and get as much experience as possible. As of now, Coach Trask believes this, “We are inexperienced right now but very talented. When that comes together these guys will be dangerous!”

Although the team overall may lack experience, several players have been working on improving their skills for years.. Dylan Miller, a junior starter for the Mohawks, is proudest of how far he and his friends have come since they started playing basketball. Dylan has put a lot of work into the sportl. Their team motto, “Prove It” comes into play with that as well, for both the players and coaches. “Anyone can talk about how good they should be or how good of a teammate they are, or how good of a person they are. To actually go out and Prove it under all conditions is a whole different thing,” Coach Trask wisely put it. Proving it gives the team as a whole a collective goal to reach and ensures all individual goals contribute to the “Prove It” mindset. This determined attitude is what makes the Mason City Mohawks boys basketball teams so unique. Following Winter Break, the MCHS Boys Basketball will take on Fort Dodge at home on January 2nd at 6:15 pm.
