Spotlight on the MCHS Tech Team

By

The tech team is a small club that makes a big impact here at MCHS. The team consists of Jacob Frieden, Skyler Lee, Maya Jalukar, Tim Read, Joey Hansen, Henry Klatt, Beau Lapointe, Spencer Wiebke, and Yahan Chang. They’ve worked on several projects both for the benefit of the school and for their own curiosity. The club meets during Mohawk Pride Time, and both advisor Jeff Hines and Junior Skyler Jacob Frieden commented on how they enjoyed having a more focused and purposeful use for that time of the day. Instead of just a shorter study hall, they are a group of like-minded people with similar interests who explore their curiosities and work towards improving technology for the school. They have worked on a website for Mr. Lee and the Kinney Pioneer Museum, helped middle school students with 3D printing, set up an LED light system, worked on binary and computer language, and more.

They often help work on projects for the school to improve the technology at MCHS, but they also spend a significant amount of time experimenting just for the sake of learning and discovery. According to Senior Skyler Lee, “I’ve learned a lot about technology, even when we’re just messing around. I plan to be a mechanical engineer someday, so doing all this preparatory work is good for me because I can explore more on my own, and get that curiosity for more. It makes me excited for college next year.” The MCHS Tech Team is giving students hands-on experiences that will provide life-long skills.
