MCHS Honors Veterans

On Friday, November 10th, MCHS observed Veterans Day with a moment of silence during 2nd period. In addition to this time, Principal Dan Long read a poem honoring our veterans, and Taps was played through the halls. MCHS has two veterans on it’s staff, Assistant Principal Dan Phipps, PHIB Detachment 113-E – US Navy/Army Reserves and 182nd TAC Recon Airlift Unit – US Air Force, and Paraprofessional Tom Trezona, US Army, National Guard Sergeant in Transportation. They were thanked for their service during the 2nd period announcement as well.

YIELD (Youth Investing Energy in Leadership Development), a group of upperclassmen in the school, are also doing a charitable event for the troops currently overseas, and have involved the whole school. Students have been given the opportunity to write letters to troops expressing thanks that will be included in care packages the YIELD participants will be sending out.

Mason City High School gives our thanks and respect to veterans and to troops currently serving!
