The Mohawks lost an active beloved member of the community last week. Elliot Burgos died on January 14th from complications of his brain cancer. He was 9 years old. Elliot was an important member of the Mohawk community. He was crowned honorary Prom King last year and got to attend prom and dance to his favorite song: Dynamite. He was a fixture in the community, could be seen at many events to support his town, and was beloved by many students and staff. His older brothers Cameron, who graduated in 2017, and Calob, a sophomore, have gone through Mason City High School. His younger brother, Sam, is in 2nd grade.
Elliot has been an inspiration to many students as well as other community members. His shirts and other fundraisers were widely supported in the high school. The thoughts and prayers of the whole school are with the Burgos family. The students and faculty of MCHS will miss him and his infectious positivity.
