Mohawks Shoot for the Stars at Prom

By

The Mason City High School Prom was a smash hit this year. The theme for this year’s prom was “Golden Night in Hollywood.”  Multiple dressed up students and fancy cars could be spotted around town as pictures were being taken to celebrate the occasion. The prom was an excellent way for students to get together and enjoy the end of the school year.

At 8 pm, students began their walk down the “red carpet” and were introduced by Mary Alexander and Laura Grommesh. They were then presented to their parents, frantically snapping photos like paparazzi. The prom had a change of venue this year. Rather than being held in Music Man Square, the event was held in the MCHS FEMA Room. Despite the change of venue, the atmosphere and decorations made for a glamorous night. With the culinary program catering the event, the food selection was fantastic. Multiple dance circles would be formed on the floor, highlighting everyone who attended this year’s prom.

Post prom was as almost equal with fun. Raffles were held for items such as microwaves and 100 dollar bills. Casino games were offered in the upper floor of NIACC, as well as karaoke and multiple games in the gym. After being supplied with food for the night, students were entertained by their peers from MCHS and Newman being hypnotized right in front of them. Students in the stands were also seen being under the hypnotists trance, as they followed and acted out hilarious scenarios. Overall, this year’s prom was a smashing success, worthy of any Golden Night in Hollywood.
