MCHS Vocal Music Presents Brigadoon

Bagpipes, sword, fights, and kilts… what’s not to love? If you are interested or slightly curious by any of the above items, you should attend this year’s summer musical put on by the MCHS Vocal Music Department. The musical Brigadoon takes place in Scotland, when two friends on a hunting trip stumble upon an enchanted village, called Brigadoon. This village only appears once in one hundred years and only for one day’s time. And when the lead role Tommy Albright, played by Skyler Lee, falls for one of Brigadoon’s young ladies, things get complicated.

Mr. Everist is looking for authenticity as this play is being produced, so the actors with speaking roles are committing to a Scottish accent, and Noah Hoffman, playing Charlie Dalrymple, has his down to a tee. Not only are accents required, but he has played all of his moves so all of the actors, including members of the chorus, have outfits fitting the time period and the culture the musical is portraying. So yes, that means kilts are going to be making frequent appearances.  Brigadoon will be performed on June 22-23 at NIACC. Tickets are available at both Mason City HyVee locations. Come out and support the MCHS vocal students!
