On Saturday, January 21, the Instrumental Music Department held a showcase in the cafeteria to raise money and collect food for the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. Each group showcased their talents from noon to 4:00 that day. The orchestra kicked off the program, followed by symphonic band, concert band, jazz band, and ending with Mohawk Power. Both bands, as well as the orchestra, held a contest to see which sections could collect the most food, the winner of the symphonic band was percussion, the winner of the concert band was the trumpet section, and the winner of the orchestra was the bass section. Our goal was originally 2500 items and at the end of the day Saturday, we ended with 4628 food items raised, the goal was raised twice because it was exceeded both times. Great job band and orchestra!
